This tower, built in 1904 and named after the then German Emperor, Karl, allows you to take in the spectacular view towards the valley of Bad Driburg. The old village centre is dominated by the neo-gothic church of St. Peter and Paul. Behind the railway lines you can see the Gräfliche Park Hotel & Spa. It contains one of the most outstanding gardens in Germany and is well worth a visit.
Surrounding the Driburg valley are the forested peaks of the “Lippische Bergland” to the north and the “Oberwälder Land” to the east and south. To the north-east you can make out the highest point in eastern Westphalia: the Köterberg reaching 496 m with its telecommunication tower. On clear days the ranges of the Solling and Reinhardswald are visible in the east and south-east. In the far south you might be able to see the characteristic shape of the Desenberg a basalt cone originating in volcanic activity.
